Andhra Pradesh government to wave off crop loans, provide 9 hours power: TDP

‘The government has been launching several beneficial schemes for the benefit of the people’

Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa said here today the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led state government would fulfil its election promise to waive crop loans and provide nine hours of uninterrupted power supply to farmers.

Speaking to reporters along with the state finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, after inaugurating an office building constructed at Korukonda in East Godavari district, he said the state government is committed to the welfare of the people, including farmers.

"The state government plans to introduce new techniques and methods to improve yields with low investment, besides several schemes for the welfare of farmers, including nine hours of uninterrupted power supply," Chinarajappa said.

"Though the residual state of Andhra Pradesh faces a severe financial crisis, the government has been launching several beneficial schemes for the benefit of the people including 20 litres of water for Rs 2, from October 2. It has extended its support to public welfare programmes," Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said, adding that the AP state government plans to prepare a separate budget for the agriculture sector.

He said that Andhra Pradesh is the first state in the country to?waive off loans worth Rs 48,000 crore including crop loans to farmers.
