Goans to Mutalik: We don’t want your Sri Rama Sene in our land

Goa Suraj Party youth wing said Sene is trying to create communal hatred

Belgaum: Several rationalists in Goa have launched a campaign against the move of Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Mutalik to start a branch of his organization in that state. They are staging a play ‘Atankvadi Goeant Naka (Don’t want terrorist in Goa) on August 9 in the Goan city of Margao.

This has led to a row between rationalists and Sene leaders who contend that their organization is being projected as a terror outfit. Several Sene leaders have already visited Goa and also sent a legal notice to Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, the district magistrate and police officials demanding that the play be stopped.

Tousif de Navelim, the actor-producer of the play, has already distributed posters of the play across Goa. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Tousif said that he will go ahead with the play despite receiving threatening calls from Hindu right wing leaders from Karnataka and Goa.

“I have already received more than 25 threat calls and messages warning of a counter attack. We will not allow Sri Rama Sene to start its branch in Goa. My intention to stage a play is to maintain unity among Christians, Hindu and Muslims who have been living in harmony for years”, Tousif de Navelim said.

Goa Suraj Party youth wing president Savio Rodrigues said Sri Ram Sene is trying to create communal hatred in Goa.
