Pakistan hands over captured BSF jawan
Srinagar: Pakistan on Friday handed over to India the BSF jawan who was captured by its border guards after he was swept into their territory by the strong currents of the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir.
The BSF jawan, Satyasheel Yadav, 30, working in its water wing, was handed over to BSF officials by commanders of the Pakistan Rangers at the zero line at the octroi border post along the Internat-ional Border in J&K’s Ranbir Singh Pura. “I was treated better than my expectations in Pakistan,” Mr Yadav said before his return. “He is in good health,” BSF DG D.K. Pathak confirmed, adding that he has been taken for debriefing. The BSF jawan, deployed in Akhnoor area near the LoC, was on Wednesday captured by the Pakistan Rangers after he was swept away by strong currents in the Chenab. Soon after the incident, the BSF had sought a flag meet with their Pak counterparts to get him back.
