Kerala High Court issues summons to Jose K Mani & Shashi Tharoor
Kochi: Kerala High Court on Friday issued summons to Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor and Kottayam MP Jose K. Mani on two separate election petitions challenging their election victory.
Justice P. Bhavadasan issued summons to Tharoor while Justice Kemal Pasha issued notices to K.M. Mani. NDA candidate Noble Mathew moved the court against Jose K. Mani while Tharoor’s election has been challenged by Aam Admi Party candidate Ajit Joy and two others.
According to Ajit Joy, Sashi Tharoor has spent crores of rupees for the election campaign which was way more than Rs 70 lakhs which was fixed under Section 77 of the Representation of Peoples Act read with Rule 90 of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1963.
Tharoor submitted a false statement of election expenses before the District Election Officer, he pointed out. Adv noble Mathew argued that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy campaigned for the candidate and e sought vote projecting a government's project which is illegal.
