‘Unlucky’, yet very dedicated
Two youngsters are showcasing their talent in the short film genre
Hyderabad: Sundar Palutla from Vinukonda, Guntur district, who has made two award-wining short films, God and Love Report, is now planning to make a psychological thriller.
The lead actor of Love Report has gone on to act in mainstream Telugu films and Sundar, too, had got the chance to direct a film. However, he says that he needs more experience and is thus planning to work as an assistant director.
“I did my schooling from Ravindra High School and Intermediate from Sri Vani Junior College in Vinukonda,” says Sundar, adding “Later I joined Osmania University for B.Tech where I was attracted to short films.”
His film Love Report was about a youngster who faces public ire after he is trapped in a sting operation by a TV journalist while trying to trap a girl in the name of love.
Abhiram and Avantisha Singh, the lead actors of Love Report, got offers to act in two mainstream Telugu films. While Avantisha decided to continue her studies, Abhiram accepted two movies of which, The End, is nearing completion.
“We tried to make short films from 2011 but things went wrong so we named our production house ‘Unlucky Creations’ in 2013,” recalls Sundar adding, “Interestingly we got a producer for the short film Strangers in January, 2013. Further, Unlucky Creations made Love Report and God, which won the Technosmania 2013 award. The film is about communal harmony.”
Another Intermediate, first year (MPC) student of Sri Gayathri Junior College, Hyderabad, Nadimpalli Vijay Varma, made waves for the one-minute short film, Happiest Memories Can Change UR Life, on the importance of education. Vijay, who is from Bhimavaram, made the film in 10 hours with the help of his friend Srikanth Nani.
“A rural background is not a hurdle to show our talent, but dedication is important to prove ourselves,” he says.
Vijay is planning to make more short films that will stress on the importance of education.
