Hunt for a co-star in Chiranjeevi's 150th film
‘Chiru 150’ faced with new challenge as makers are yet to pick actress
Hyderabad: Chiranjeevi’s 150th film is all set to launch on August 22, the star’s birthday and according to reports, the project’s looking at a release later this year.
But there’s a small problem. The film’s makers have still not found an actress and are wondering who will really fit the bill because let’s face it, former minister Chiranjeevi is now a far cry from his once famous ‘hero image’ and the film’s brief clearly states that it “needs to be a masala entertainer”.
Another point that could worry producers is the fact that Ram Charan is now a major-league movie star himself and the father, obviously, wouldn’t be too keen on being seen with the son’s co-stars. So, that leaves poor Chiru with close to zero options. “Anushka Shetty is the one they are focussing on because they are not looking at someone very young,” reveals a source.
Tamannaah too could be in the running because a few years ago, Chiranjeevi himself had said the 25-year-old would be his choice if he were to make a comeback and the actress could be making an appearance after all.
“The director may sign her up for an item number,” adds the source. So, with a script yet to be decided and faced with this new dilemma, ‘Chiru 150’, could be looking at a few delays before it hits the floors.
