Anna canteens to start at three centres in Andhra Pradesh
The canteens will be set on a pilot basis and will be extended later
Hyderabad: Anna canteens, modelled upon the successfully running Amma canteens in Tamil Nadu, would be set up in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Rajahmundry on a pilot basis and later extended to other parts of residuary Andhra Pradesh.
In the first phase of the project, one centre (canteen) will offer only breakfast, another centre breakfast and lunch and the third centre will have all the three meals of the day.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked officials to test the plan and make appropriate changes in menu based on feedback from people. A high-level delegation, of officials, led by civil supplies minister Paritala Sunitha visited Chennai and studied the functioning of Amma canteens in Tamil Nadu.
