All you need to know about Bomb Shots
Hyderabad: Contrary to what connoisseurs and experts insist, some drinks are best consumed in a swift chug. They’re not meant for elegant settings or to be paired with the choicest of cuisines; instead they do a fine job of lifting spirits in a frenzied setting like a party. Tequila may be your elixir of choice, but how about stepping outside your comfort zone and trying something truly explosive.
Bomb shots (commonly called Bombs) are drinks made by mixing two drinks. A drink in a shot glass is dropped into a larger glass (sometimes even a pint) holding a different beverage that is usually a chaser. This cocktail is then chugged.
Shots can be taken either “clean,” dropping the shot into a cup, or “dirty,” pouring the shot directly into the wash.
The chasers in Bombs are usually energy drinks but the choice of liquor is largely dependent on one’s own palate. The Jager Bomb (Jagermeister and Red Bull) is probably the most common type of Bomb. Among other popular Bombs are Irish Car Bomb, the Skittle Bomb and even Sake Bomb. The chaser is meant to soften the blow that the shot of pure spirit can deliver. Some people even use beer as a chaser in Bombs, but in such an instance, choose a liqueur that works well with beer as your choice of Bomb.
The idea is to quickly drink the cocktail. So don’t bother too much about how you drink it as long as you remember to remove the shot glass once submerged lest it hit your upper jaw.
New glassware has been invented to make the shots easier for bartenders to make and more fun for you to drink. Plastic Bomb cups, or bombers, are glasses that separate the two main ingredients by letting you pour one on top of the other.
