KRS dam full, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah smiles
Krishna Raja Sagar reservoir rose to 124.25 feet on Wednesday
Mysore: As the water level in the Krishna Raja Sagar reservoir rose to 124.25 feet on Wednesday, just a little short of its storage capacity of 124.80 feet, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah offered "bagina" to the River Cauvery at the dam as a gesture of thanksgiving to nature.
Speaking on the occasion, he recalled that he had made a similar offering on August 1 last year. "The rain this year has not ony brought cheer to farmers, but also avoided an inter-state water dispute with neighbouring Tamil Nadu," he added with satisfaction.
Reiterating the state's commitment to modernising all irrigational canals in the Cauvery, Krishna and other basins at a cost of Rs 50,000 crore in the next five years, he also promised to revive all lakes in the state in the interest of increasing the ground water table.
