Kasu Brahmananda Reddy walkers move High Court against fee
Hyderabad: The Nature Park Walkers’ Association has moved the Hyderabad High Court challenging the Telangana government’s decision to enhance the entry fee for the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) National Park, at Jubilee Hills.
The Association, represented by its secretary Rahul Singhal, moved the petition stating that the KBR Park is normally used by people for morning and evening walks.
He said that the authorities were charging yearly entry fees of Rs 500 for senior citizens and Rs 800 for others. However, on July 19, 2014, the Forest department issued a GO enhancing the yearly entry fee from Rs 800 to Rs 1500, Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 (for senior citizens), Rs 200 to Rs 400 as monthly fees and Rs 10 to Rs 20 as daily fee, with effect from July 1.
He said that about 2,000 annual passes were already issued with the old fee and the park authorities were now asking for the difference from walkers who have already taken annual passes.
He urged the court to set aside the GO keeping in view the interests of the general public.
