Sufi singer Jyoti Nooran files petition for protection from her parents

Mumbai: Sufi singer Jyoti Nooran, who shot to fame with the song ‘Patakha Guddi’, is now under the spotlight over her age. She recently got married to Kunal Passi against her parents wishes and has now gone ahead and filed a petition before the Punjab and Haryana High Court alleging threat to her life from her parents.

During a hearing on Tuesday, Jyoti told the court that she got married on August 2 and her parents had forged her age documents. She also told that her mother had plans to go to Canada with her as caretaker and was hell bent on establishing that she is a minor.

Jyoti further said that her parents were greedy and wanted her to marry someone else. The court has accepted her application and sent her to a protection home and also asked her to prove her age.
