New Delhi: A day after the BJP-led NDA government announced that English marks in the civil services preliminary examination will not be included for gradation or merit, The Opposition parties also demanded that the question papers of preliminary exam should be provided in all languages.
UPSC civil services examination aspirants continued their stir demanding scrapping of CSAT.
The Opposition demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should make a statement on the issue and a joint Parliamentary committee (JPC) should be set up to look into the matter. However the BJP countered the attack by maintaining that the problem was created during the Congress-led UPA rule which the NDA government is now trying to resolve.
The Opposition parties also demanded that the decision taken by the Centre on the issue be kept in abeyance and the civil services preliminary exams slated for August 24 be postponed.
The aspirants, who had been protesting against the CSAT format near Delhi University’s North Campus, for the past 26 days, shifted their base to Jantar Mantar. Protesters said they would continue their fight unless Centre scraps CSAT completely.
The Rajya Sabha, witnessed two adjournments over the issue as the Opposition members created an uproar and trooped into the well of the House.
The Lok Sabha also saw a brief adjournment of 15 minutes during Zero Hour when SP and RJD MPs entered the well creating ruckus over the issue.
