GHMC elections are scheduled in October this year
Hyderabad: Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao of the Hyde-rabad High Court on Tuesday ruled that the election notification to conduct elections to the Greater Hyderab-ad Municipal Corpor-ation (GHMC) can be notified only after del-imitation of wards as per the GO Ms 570 and census figures of 2011.
The judge was deposing off a petition by senior BJP leader Karunakar and three others from the city stating that the rules prescribe that GHMC shall be divided into 150 wards and the population in each ward shall not vary beyond 15 per cent of the average.
Citing that the elections for the GHMC are scheduled for October this year, they urged the court to gra-nt interim direction to the state government to start the prelimina-ry work immediately.
