GO on motor vehicles to seek proposals: Telangana
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government on Tuesday submitted before the Hyderabad High Court that the government has not taken any final decision with regard to re-registration of motor vehicles.
Placing the government’s stand on a petition, challenging a GO issued on July 17 asking all the vehicle owners to change their number plates from AP to TS through a process of re-registration, B. Mahender Reddy, special counsel for the government, said the GO was intended to seek suggestions from a cross section of the people of the state with regard to re-registration of motor vehicles.
A Division Bench co-mprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar was dealing with a plea by Rammohan Chowdary, a resident of the city.
The counsel said that the GO was issued under Section 65 and 212 (1) of the Motor Vehicles Act after the bifurcation of the state and suggestion were sought from the people through the GO to frame the guidelines.
The counsel said that the government intended to file the counter affidavit.
Justice Sengupta told the petitioner to file his objection and the submissions of the government within a week.
