Over 54 passengers on board were going from Chunar to Varanasi

Lucknow: Nearly 32 persons are feared dead after a boat capsized in the Ganga in Rohaniya area in Varanasi district on Tuesday. The boat, with over 54 passengers on board, was going from Chunar to Varanasi and overturned mid-stream. The exact number of persons on board was not known since some had swum to safety.
The boat, apparently, was overloaded and passengers shifting form one side to another caused it to overturn. Senior district officials rushed to the site of the incident and pressed divers into service. A senior district official said that 22 persons had been rescued but 32 were still missing.
