Meerut gangrape: Fallopian tube removed from victim’s body to prevent pregnancy

Victim said she had been kept along with close to a dozen others ‘like her’

Meerut: With tension simmering in Meerut over the alleged gangrape and forced conversion of a 20-year-old woman, the administration acted swiftly and arrested three of the four accused.

Four people named by the victim are Mohd Nawab, who is the Sarawa pradhan, Samar Jahan and her daughter Nishaat – have been arrested. The fourth accused, Salalullah, is absconding.

The victim was recorded her statement before a judicial magistrate Neetu Yadav e on Tuesday. Reportedly, the contents of the statement are not known but the victim informed the police that she had escaped from the madrassa where she had been kept along with close to a dozen others "like her".

According to media reports, the victim also said that her fallopian tube was removed in a surgery done at a local hospital to make sure that she could not conceive in future.

The complainant filed by victim’s father alleged that his daughter was abducted on July 23 and was taken to a Madrassa where she was gangraped and was confined illegally. She was also forcefully made to sign some papers related to religious conversion.

According to Superintendent of Police (rural) Captain M S Begh, the woman managed to escape and returned to her house on July 30 and narrated her ordeal to her parents. He said the woman's medical examination has confirmed rape and cuts were found on her abdomen. He rejected media reports that the girl's kidney had been removed.

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday promised a CBI probe into the matter.

"Senior officers have been asked to keep a vigil. Law and order cannot be compromised with," said Yadav, according to TV reports.
