Vanpic didn’t get all lands: Report

Only 23.5 per cent of land has gone out of government control

Hyderabad: Surprisingly, against the projected Vanpic controversy, the report submitted by Guntur and Prakasam district collectors to the Cabinet sub-committee has revealed that only 23.5 per cent of land has gone out of government control.

According to the official report given to the Cabinet sub-committee, which is looking into the land allotments made by the earlier Congress government, out of 28,000 acre of land proposed to be allotted to the Vanpic project, only 6,608 acre of land has been handed over.

The collectors of Prakasam and Guntur districts reported that the land has not been mortgaged and no loans have been obtained by the company. However, both collectors said that Vanpic has not utilised the land for the purpose for which it was allotted.

After coming to power, the Telugu Desam government had constituted a Cabinet sub-committee to look into the land deals done by the previous Congress government. The sub-committee had written to the Prakasam and Guntur collectors regarding the project.

The Congress government had proposed that land to an extent of 28,000 acre be provided for implementation of the Vanpic project. Out of this, 4,000 acres were earmarked for both ports, 2,000 acre each for Vadarevu and Nizampatnam, and 700 acre for a shipyard at Vadarevu Port on lease basis.

The Prakasam district collector in his report said that as per GO MS No. 1110 dated September 15, 2009, the government had accorded permission for alienation of land to an extent of 6,406 acre on payment of market value as recommended by the empowered committee in favour of Vanpic project. Out of this, an extent of 4987.43 acre was handed over to the project. He said no private land has been handed over to the project.

The Guntur collector in his report said that the land was alienated in favour of the project and that there was no registration of sale deeds in favour of the beneficiaries. The collector reported that the land has not been mortgaged and no loans were obtained from local banks.
