Hyderabad High Court notice to Centre on Mallika Sherawat dress
Film poster showed Mallika sitting atop a car with the tricolour draped below her waist
Hyderabad: A division Bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday issued notices to the Central Board of Film Certification, the Union home ministry and Bollywood actor Mallika Sherawat in a petition alleging insult of the national flag in an upcoming movie.
Human rights activist Mr T. Dhangopal Rao had moved the Hyderabad High Court seeking action against Mallika Sherawat for alleged obscene use of the tricolour in her film Dirty Politics.
He had submitted that the actor and producer Kastoor Chand Bokadia had intentionally humiliated the national flag in the first look poster of the film. He said the publicity poster showed Mallika sitting atop a car with the tricolour draped below her waist.
While issuing notices, the Court directed the respondents to spell out their stand through counter affidavits on the plea. The case was adjourned for six weeks.
