Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday refused to postpone the elections to the posts of mandal parishads presidents and Khammam zilla parishad chairman, scheduled to be held on Wednesday.

The court was dealing with a PIL by V. Narayan Rao, former MPTC member of Konijerla mandal of the district, seeking to retain earlier reservations for the presidents of mandal parishads and chairman of ZP of Khammam district was not proper even after issuance of AP Reorganisation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2014, which allowed transfer of seven mandals in Khammam district of Telangana state to the residuary state of AP.
