Andhra Pradesh will pay farm loans in two months
Hyderabad: AP agriculture minister P. Pulla Rao said that the government will pay the total farm loan amount of Rs 1.5 lakh for each family within two months to the banks as decided by the Cabinet.
Even if the RBI does not agree to reschedule the crop loans, the state government has arranged for alternate plans, he said adding that the banks will be asked to give 10-year time to repay the farm loan amount. If the banks agree, the government can take up development and welfare programmes in the state.
He said that the government would write another letter to the RBI asking for rescheduling of crop loans in 572 mandals. Once again the minister appealed to the farmers to pay their dues to the banks at the earliest.
He said that the government will ask the collectors to submit the list of farmers to the banks. The government will pay Rs 1.5 lakh to each family and said the collectors will ask the banks to give fresh loans to the farmers.
