Hyderabad: A few weeks ago, police officials frisked two youngsters on a bike and found them in possession of a knife, a knuckle duster and red chilli powder. Following an interrogation, the duo, Bijjaram Sai Krishna, 20, and Vindar Pandurang, 20, confessed that they planned to rob a jewellery businessman at Habsiguda. They are both degree college students. Investigation officials found out that they were working for a criminal named Thangerapally Naveen Chary, who promised to pay Rs 25,000 rupees each if the robbery was successful.
Hyderabad police records say that among the new criminals involved in property offences in the city, the number of students is high. Officials say most of criminal students choose to snatch chains.“Majority of the fresh criminals in chain snatchings and vehicle lifting cases are students. They wanted to earn easy money, and spend lavishly. We have found that they use the money to spend on women and liquor and going to Mumbai and Goa,” said a senior CCS police official.
