Porters told to look out for ultras
Police conducts awareness programme as a part of safe city concept
Hyderabad: The police conducted an awareness program about terror attacks at the Nampally Railway Station for porters, hawkers, security personnel and others. The cops asked them to be alert and to inform them about suspicious persons. The programme was attended by senior officials from all departments. A demonstration on explosives was also carried out. Pictures of wanted Maoists, terrorists and criminals were distributed.
The programme was conducted as part of the Safe City Concept under the supervision of DCP V.B. Kamalasan Reddy. He asked people connected to the railway station to join hands with the police in fighting crime. Pointing out that railway stations could be easy targets for terror attacks, the shop owners were asked to set up surveillance cameras both inside and outside their shops.
“We told them about terror attacks and also held demonstrations on explosives like IEDs to show them how it works. They were asked to inform us about anything they found suspicious at the station,” said Mr V.B. Kamalasan Reddy.
