Now, Google ‘forgets’ a page from Wikipedia
Google will restrict search terms to a link to a Wikipedia article
London: Google will restrict search terms to a link to a Wikipedia article, as Europe’s controversial “right to be forgotten” legislation affected the Internet encyclopaedia for the first time.
Wikipedia has about 1.3 million pages. The Guardian reported that the identity of the individual requesting a change to Google’s search results has not been disclosed and may never be known, but the request would be put into effect within days, it is believed.
Google and other search engines can only remove the link; the web page will remain on Wikipedia. In May, the European Court of Justice ruled that citizens could ask search engines to remove particular links from results for a search made under their name.
