Flipkart and Xiaomi are geared up for the Mi 3 sale today

Xiaomi has gone down in history in India by exhausting their Mi 3 handset inventory with crazy speeds. While the first flash sale of 5,000 10,000 handsets (Edit: Official stats from Xiaomi) ended within 38 minutes, the second sale with 10,000 handsets disappeared within 5 seconds of the counter being opened.

Well, Flipkart reported a whopping 2.5 lakh hits on the dot of 2:00 PM on the second flash sale, which resulted in all handsets being sold out within 5 seconds flat.

Flipkart also reported that once a user adds the handset to his shopping cart, the handset is considered sold. So one can imagine 2.5-lakh customers adding the handset to their shopping cart within a few seconds and a whopping 10,000 Xiaomi Mi 3 handsets vanishing from the counter is pretty much possible. The next sale for the Xiaomi Mi 3 handsets will start at 2 PM today.

Hugo Barra, VP for Xiaomi, Global, told Deccan Chronicle that today's flash sale (at 2 PM) will have 15,000 Mi 3 handsets on the counter. He also added that in order to please their Indian fans, Flipkart will make the transaction transparent. “We’re making small adjustments to the flash sale model in order to be as open and transparent as we can. For instance, users coming to the Flipkart Mi micro-site will know how many registrations so far and how many units will be available in the next sale,” said Hugo.

When asked how Xiaomi fans can get their hands on the Mi 3 handsets at the Flipkart sale, he replied, “Make sure you’re logged into the website (or the mobile app) at least 30 minutes before the sale starts.”

Flipkart has already placed a banner on their website which states that over 1,00,000 have already registered for the Mi 3 handsets for the next sale and 15,000 handsets will be placed on the counter. Registrations are presently closed and users will have to later register again for the next sale.

Flipkart is anticipating another big rush with millions of clicks at 2 PM. so make sure you have your internet speed beefed up and no distractions while shopping. Make sure your computer clock is synchronized with Flipkart's website to ensure higher chances of grabbing one handset.
