Centre is alert about Kashmir and modernisation of CISF: Kiren Rijiju
Hyderabad: Minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju said on Sunday that the Central government was dealing with the Kashmir issue very cautiously since it was very sensitive. “It is not wise enough on my part to talk about the steps which we are planning to take because it is a sensitive matter and we are dealing with it cautiously and we have to see everything in the national interest,” Mr Rijiju said after attending the passing out parade at National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) at Hakimpet.
On the Rs 500-crore package for rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants, he said that it had already been announced and the government was working on it.
Answering a query about the call of separatists to shut down Kashmiri Pandits’ pilgrimage to Kousar Nag, he said that the ministry was examining the issue.
“The Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, has expressed his views. We will take into account all the aspects in national interest.” he said.
Attending the passing out parade of different batches of Central Industrial Security Force Assistant Commandants, the minister said that Centre was committed to the modernisation of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the country. He added that since India was facing internal challenges from terrorism and Left wing extremism, the role of CISF was vital.
“CISF is no more a force only to guard industrial units or installations of national importance. It has emerged as one of the premier security organisations,” he said in presence of CISF director-general Arvind Ranjan.
