Special teams of the city police continue their manhunt for criminal
Hyderabad:Special teams of the city police continued their manhunt for the criminal gang which killed a constable and injured a sub inspector seriously. Police teams have been sent to neighbouring districts as part of the search. The Cyberabad police is also coordinating with the district police to raid possible hideouts of the gang led by notorious criminal A. Yellam Goud.
Meanwhile, the body of gangster Mustafa who died in police firing was handed over to his family after post-mortem at the Gandhi mortuary on Sunday, senior police officials from Cyberabad said.
The last rites of the slain cop, T. Eswar Rao, were performed in his native village in Srikakulam amid grieving parents and other relatives. The condition of the injured SI, Mr Venkat Reddy, remained critical at the Yashoda Hospital on Sunday. Doctors said that he is under observation after surgery.
“We sent our teams to Medak, Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts to apprehend Yellam Goud and his gang,” Petbasheerabad ACP M. Srinivasa Rao said.
Yellam Goud, who hails from Siddipet in Medak district is involved in several other major criminal cases. Cases of theft, robbery, dacoity and bodily offences are pending against him in the police stations of Siddipet, Zaheerabad, Khammam, Nalgonda and other places.
Balanagar DCP A.R. Srinivas said, “We are coordinating with the district police to find the gang's hideout.”
Meanwhile, two members of the gang, identified as Raghu and Naresh, who were arrested by the police before the encounter took place, were sent to remand on Sunday, police said.
The Yellam Goud gang, who was carrying fake currency, and a 12-member Zonal Task Force team clashed in Shamirpet on Friday midnight resulting in the death of a constable. The SI was seriously injured when the gang attacked. The police shot and killed a gangster named Mustafa, while the rest of the gang managed to flee with their vehicle.
Mustafa’s parents, who hail from Siddipet, told the police that since many days he had not come home. Mustafa is an accused in an assault and dowry harassment case in Medak.
