Deadline for crop insurance
Hyderabad: The AP government has extended the deadline for loanee and non-loanee farmers to enrol under Modified National Agriculture Insurance Scheme and Weather based crop Insurance Scheme to September 15.
Earlier, the government has issued notifications for implementation of MNAIS and WBCIS in all 13 districts of the state and had fixed July 31 as the deadline for farmers to enrol for insurance.
On the request of commissioner of agriculture, after consulting the Centre, the state government decided to extend the cut off date.
The AP government accepted recommendations of P. Kotaiah Committee on waiver of farm loans and DWCRA loans by the Cabinet. The government constituted an expert committee under the chairmanship of former Nabard chairman P. Kotaiah to examine in detail the implications and to suggest the modalities and methodology of implementing the debt waiver scheme.
The committee submitted their report to the government on 21st July and the cabinet accepted the report. But the cabinet has decided to waive to each family not exceeding Rs 1.5 lakh instead of Committee’s suggestion Rs one lakh.
The AP government said in that orders that the Operational guidelines to implement the Debt Waiver scheme will be communicated separately.
