Hyderabad: Over 240 lakes in the Serilingampally limits have been encroached upon as illegal structures have been constructed in these areas. A recent survey by the Ranga Reddy district administration officials showed that the Serilingampally area includes prized areas of Kondapur, Madhapur and Gattala Begumpet.
So far, of the 400 lakes, 240 lakes have been surveyed by nine teams of officials including irrigation and revenue officials. On the direction of the Telangana state government, the survey was taken up to identify the areas where land is available with the government for proposed industrialisation.
“The Ranga Reddy district administration will give the survey report to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to initiate action against these illegal constructions,” said Ranga Reddy district joint collector J.C. Champa Lala.
