Honey-trap case: Main accused surrender
Kochi: The two main absconding accused in the honey-trap case –Bindiya Thomas and Ruksana-- surrendered before the police late on Saturday following a day-long drama in which look-out notices were issued against the duo after they had gone into hiding following their release on bail last week.
The investigation team probing the case had lodged fresh charges against them in connection with the suicide of a Thiruvananthapuram -native and was trying to rearrest the women for the past two days.
Earlier in the day, the cops traced Ruksana’s car and arrested the driver, Alapuzha native Shajahan, in a bid to trace them. The cops had even pasted notices on the doors of the women’s houses at Chilavannor and Kakkanad asking them to appear before the investigation officer before 4 p.m.
However, even as all attempts by the cops failed, the women surrendered before the IG office at Marine Drive at 8.30 p.m. “We’re being framed in the blackmailing case .... Saji Kumar and Wilson Perera are the ‘money bearers’ (conduit) of prominent persons including politicians. We’ll reveal all their names,” Bindiya told waiting media even as the cops swiftly shifted them to DCP office. She even named a few politicians.
