Drug bust: 2 Africans, student nabbed in Hyderabad

90 grams of cocaine was seized

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police busted a drug racket and arrested two Nigerians and a city student involved in drug peddling. About 90 grams of cocaine was also seized from them.

The foreigners who came to India on student and business visas had moved to Hyderabad and got involved in the drug business. They procured the drug from New Delhi and sold it to students here. A woman was also booked.

The arrested men are Ezeh Christian Chuku alias Ezeh Peter, 32, a student of Aptech Institute, New Delhi, and native of Enugu, Nigeria, Nwoko Ndubuisi Keneth alias Keneth, 32, a native of Abia in Nigeria, both residents of Hakeempet Kunta, in Hyderabad, and Y. Sai Praveen, 21, a student and resident of Sarojini Naidu Nagar in Madhapur. V. Navya Sree, 18, a student and resident of Subertari Hasini Complex, New Bowenpally and Douglas Ethiopian, a drug consumer and distributor, and resident of New Delhi are absconding.

“The Nigerians plotted to sell cocaine in the city and Ezeh contacted Douglas. They went to New Delhi and purchased 90 grams from Douglas and brought it into the city concealing it in their slippers,” said Mr M. Mahender Reddy, police commissioner.

“The duo met Sai Praveen in Banjara Hills and asked him to sell drugs to known customers. Sai informed Navya Sree. They purchased four grams of cocaine from Ezeh and planned to sell it at Rs 5000- Rs 7000 per gram,” the police said.

After receiving a tip off the police nabbed Sai Praveen on Saturday near the Sree Jagannath Swamy Temple in Banjara Hills while he was waiting for customers. Navya Sree fled from the spot. The arrested men and the seized material were handed over to Banjara Hills police.

Mr Mahender Reddy said the visas of the foreign nationals will be cancelled and they will be deported.

Speaking about the fake university certificate rackets in the city he requested universities to update details of certificates issued on websites so that companies recruiting people can confirm whether the certificates produced by candidates were issued by the concerned universities or not.
