Hyderabad Metro to cover 200 km by 2040

The metro will connect the proposed Film City, Pharma City and other hubs
Hyderabad: While asserting that the Hyderabad Metro Rail project would be completed on time, IT minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Friday that the present 72 km of Metro Rail would be extended to 200 km in and around Greater Hyderabad.
“Metro Rail services are essential for the denizens of Hyderabad and we are committed to complete the project on time,” he added. Mr Rao was speaking at the launch of the first batch of postgraduate course in Metro Rail & Technology on Friday.
The extended metro line (200 km) would be completed by 2040 and would connect the proposed Film City, Pharma City and other hubs, he said.
About the controversial issues surrounding the Hyderabad Metro, including the change of alignment at Sultan Bazaar and going underground at Assembly House, Mr Rao said that the issue was being studied by authorities who would soon arrive at a decision.
Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director N.V.S. Reddy stated that works at the controversial areas would not be taken up until a decision is taken.
