Good news for city as Siruvani overflows
Catchment areas recorded a heavy rainfall of 169 mm and Siruvani touched 877.20 metres
Coimbatore:As the skies opened up over the catchment areas, the Siruvani dam, supplying drinking water to Coimbatore, overflowed, ending fears of water scarcity in the city.
The catchment areas recorded a heavy rainfall of 169 mm and Siruvani touched 877.20 metres, less than a metre short of the full reservoir level. By Friday, the Siruvani began to overflow. The surplus from Siruvani is being drained into Bhavani river course.
The Pillur dam, which also serves the city’s water needs, brimmed over a week ago. With the water position drastically improving, the corporation has decided to supply water on alternate days.
