Molestation charge against policemen
Chennai: A 25-year-old woman, who is the mother of two children, approached the city police commissioner with a complaint that two policemen from the Guindy station had been trying to sexually assault her after booking her husband in a ‘false’ case.
The woman, Andrea D, a resident of Adambakkam, who had named the policemen in her complaint given to the police commissioner S. George, alleged that the policemen had sexually assaulted her sister in the name of questioning her while the victim was alone in June this year, while she herself had been resisting their attempts.
According to her, the ‘dirty’ cops started visiting her house since March this year threatening to book her husband Damodaran, working in a neighbourhood newspaper, who was an accused in a murder that took place two years ago, under the Goondas Act to extract money from them.
The family had shifted the house to escape from the regular torture and stalking by the policemen, she claimed in her complaint. However the two policemen managed to trace them. According to her, the policemen wanted her to sleep with her and her sister.
“They promised to leave my husband free if I sleep with them. I have been resisting their attempts. One day, when my husband was away, they came in drunk and started misbehaving with me. But I ran out of my house shouting for help. When the neighbours gathered, the two walked away saying they were looking out for my husband.”
On July 25, the two again came to her house. At that time, a friend of her husband was there. “Noticing that I was very scared, he tried to intervene. But the two took him to the station and I don’t know what happened to him,” she said in her petition.
