Hyderabad: Telangana state government is gearing up for a massive intensive household survey (IHS), which will be the yardstick to select beneficiaries for various government schemes.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will hold a meeting of ministers, senior officials and others to be involved in the survey at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), Madhapur on Friday to discuss the modalities for the IHS (Inten-sive Household Survey).
The Chief Minister decided to find out details about the 84 lakh households in the state as per the 2011 census. He discovered that there were 1.03 crore ration cards, 19 lakh more cards than the census population figure!
Since the government decided to provide two bedroom houses for weaker sections costing about Rs 3.5 lakh each, to ensure fee reimbursement and other welfare schemes to reach deserving, the government has decided to go in for a detailed household survey to ensure correct data of population, their financial standing and weed out bogus claimants,” a senior official said.
Minister for IT and panchayat raj K.T. Rama Rao said he and other ministers have been asked to attend the day-long meeting to be chaired by the Chief Minister.
