764-km grid roads to strengthen Outer Ring Road

Project is envisaged to help improve the infrastructure of the areas surrounding ORR

Hyderabad: Hundreds of grid roads connecting 32 mandals and the Outer Ring Road, 746.04 km long, will be strengthened as part of the ORR growth corridor.

The project is envisaged to help improve the infrastructure of the areas surrounding ORR and also to provide full-fledged infrastructure to investors and help boost the Regional Ring Road. These grid roads connect different mandals and will be the first uniformed growth corridor, mainly aimed at attracting real estate and IT projects.

A HMDA Master Plan official said, “It is a gigantic job since there are hundreds of roads connecting these 32 mandals. These proposed grid roads will be de-marked first in a phased manner. The HMDA or a consultant will take up the job, which would take a year, following which the road widths will be strengthened. This is a major part of the ORR growth corridor master plan and is mainly being done to attract investors and real estate.

150 km roads to be pothole free

Similar to the garbage free eight zones identified by the GHMC, the city will also have 150 km of damage-free roads connecting Inner Ring Roads.

These roads will be developed as per international standards and will not have a single pothole. Works on each kilometer will cost '10 crore including ducting, storm water drains, leveling, patch work, pathways, pedestrian crossing and bus stations.

The Municipal Corporation will give permission for digging the roads only between October and March.

The road facelift is part of the Comprehensive Road Development Plan concept initiated by the Corporation as per global standards.
