Family of four found dead in Kerala, Suicide suspected
Kochi: A family of four, including eight-year-old twins, were found dead in an apartment in Chembumukku, near Kakkanad on Thursday. The dead couple, Sajo Joseph (39), Deepthi (29) and their children, Alfred and Alex, are suspected to have committed suicide by consuming poison owing to financial problems. The four were found in the bedroom of their rented flat at 'Tranquilin Residency’ in Chembumukku.
The police recovered around eight debit cards used by the couple and has also taken a laptop used by Sajo into custody to see if it has anything on it to help it establish the reason for the suspected family suicide pact. Initial investigation has led the police to believe the middle class family was leading a luxurious lifestyle. “Both husband and wife were engaged in share market trading, especially commodity markets and operated from home. They may have faced huge losses recently,” said a police official.
The police arrived at the flat Wednesday night and broke open the lock, following complaints from some friends of Sajo that he had not answered his mobile calls for two days and the flat was locked.
The family from Ollukkara, Mannuthy in Thrissur had moved to Ernankulam two years ago to start a business venture. Alfred and Alex were students of Assisi Vidyanikethan, Chembumukku. A police team led by DCP, R Nishanthini and Assistant Commissioner, Xavier Sebastian arrived at the spot and is investigating. The bodies were handed over to relatives after a postmortem.
