Maharashtra board removal is Kannada terrorism: Shiv Sena

Belgaum: While Maharashtra has moved the Supreme Court to find a lasting solution to the boundary dispute with Karnataka, trouble continues on the border with Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna' calling the removal of the ‘Maharashtra State' board a few days ago outside Yellur as an act of “Kannada terrorism.”
The town had placed the board at the entrance to it for decades before it was removed on the orders of the Karnataka High Court recently. But objecting to it strongly, Saamna editor, Udhav Thakre called for Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's intervention in the row and demanded that the Centre declare the ‘disputed' Belgaum region a Union territory. He also also urged the Union government to name “an administrator for the disputed area.”
Meanwhile , Belgaum Deputy Commissioner, N Jairam who has informed the high court about the action taken against the Maharashtra board outside Yellur, said the administration would do whatever was necessary to also remove boards displayed in Marathi in the region.
