Karnataka cabinet berth pangs to end: Is G. Parameshwar finally in?
CM Siddaramaiah hinting about the induction of new faces
Bengaluru: KPCC president Dr. G. Parameshwar could finally make it to the cabinet with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah hinting about the induction of new faces to fill four of the five vacancies in his cabinet.
Sources in Congress said Mr. Siddaramaiah is likely to accommodate Manohar Tahsildar and Hullappa Yamanappa Meti, and Dr Parameshwar. The sole Lingayat could be from Belgaum district. A mere hint by the Chief Minister triggered much excitement in the ruling party with some legislators, senior leaders and MLCs deciding to rush to New Delhi to lobby for berths in the cabinet.
They were keen that Mr Siddaramaiah overhaul his cabinet and replace non-performing ministers with new faces, and felt it was the opportune time to camp in Delhi and push central leaders to include them in the ministry as it was a case of now or never, sources added.
Insiders however cautioned against any immediate change to the cabinet. They said that the chief minister’s comment that the cabinet expansion was in the hands of central leaders continued to raise doubts about the timing of the exercise.
