Bengaluru: Member of Parliament Dr Shashi Tharoor, acclaimed Bharatnatyam dancer Mallika Sarabhai and Bollywood singer Piyush Mishra will come together at Trendin.com Eximius 2014, organised by the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Summit, which will take place on August 9 and 10, includes 47 events and have garnered well over 2,000 responses from across the country.
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Cell is a student body of IIM Bangalore and aims to promote entrepreneurship on campus. The two-day fest is their trademark event and as always, features a number of prominent personalities who come forward to interact with participants at the event. The theme this year is ‘The road less travelled’ and will focus on the less popular avenues of entrepreneurship such as politics, sports, the performing arts and the media.
The event will be inaugurated on August 8, with a lecture on entrepreneurship by Dr Shashi Tharoor and a performance by lyricist, musician and actor Piyush Mishra. Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman of Ogilvy and Mather, South Asia, who has hugely successful ad campaigns like Dairy Milk Kuch khaas hai to his credit, apart from being one of the masterminds behind the BJP’s 2014 election campaign strategy, will deliver the keynote address on August 9 at 11 am. Padma Bhushan Mallika Sarabhai, who is an alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad, will deliver a lecture-cum-performance the same night.
The flagship events, which have grown extremely popular over the years, include Ingen, the B-Plan competition Reach, the social entrepreneurship event and Disrupt it, a platform for innovative ideas.
The Start-up boot camps, which saw about a 100 startups on campus in 2013, is expected to be even bigger this year. Thousands of participants from over 150 colleges all over India will arrive at the campus next week. Funding opportunities from Venture Capitalists are also on offer for winners.
