Andhra Pradesh Greyhounds strip building of interiors after order to shift
Unallotted old SIB building was vacated when it went to Telangana
Hyderabad: A fresh controversy arose between Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh governments on Tuesday after AP Greyhounds removed window glasses, doors, furniture, fans, ACs and even commodes and taps from the building allotted to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s visitors and security officials in Begumpet.
The unallotted old SIB building, which was occupied by AP Greyhounds, was vacated recently after Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan issued orders allotting it to Telangana.
While Telangana police claimed that the AP Greyhounds’ act was “unwarranted”, the AP police maintained that whatever had been invested by the united AP government’s police wing in renovating the old building had been removed and no “wrong” had been committed.

A senior police official of Telangana said, “The building allotted to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s visitors and security officials in Begumpet was used by the anti-Naxal intelligence agency, Special Intelligence Branch, for several years. In 2011, after SIB constructed a new building, it moved out. Greyhounds, which was situated in Gandipet, had requested for a front office in the building and it was allotted. The then Greyhounds Additional DG, Mr Anurag Sharma, had renovated the building. After bifurcation, Andhra SIB was asked to use this old building but they didn’t move out of the new building. So the building was left with residuary AP Greyhounds but there was no official allotment.”
He added, “CM KCR had shifted to his camp office but he was not moving into the office complex due to vastu issues. So based on the Telangana government’s request, the old SIB building was allotted by the governor to KCR to meet visitors as well as for the chief minister’s security personnel. But while vacating the building, the AP Greyhounds removed all the fittings and furniture, including doors and toilet commodes. This is an unallotted building so they shouldn’t have done that. Even if united AP had invested in it, Telangana should get half of it.”
However, a senior police official of AP said, “We only took away the glasses. No windows were taken. Strictly saying, whatever was invested during renovation has been taken as they belong to AP.”
