Abducted engineers from Andhra Pradesh released
They were employed as site engineers with Ratnakar Constructions in Nagaland
Vijayawada: In yet another jolt to the families of engineers working in eastern states like Nagaland and Assam, militants kidnapped two young engineers from Krishna district on July 27 in Dimapur city. They were reportedly released on Tuesday evening after the construction company they were employed with had talks with the abductors.
Gogineni Prateesh Chandra, 25, and Chintakinda Raghavendra Rao, 27, employed as site engineers with Ratnakar Constructions in Nagaland, a sub-contracting firm of Nuzvid’s Prudhvi Constructions were abducted by the group of suspected militants on July 27.
“My son called me at 10pm on July 27 and said ‘Dad someone has abducted me’ before the call went dead. He has been unreachable since then,” said G. Vasumathi, mother of Prateesh Chandra. Prateesh left for Nagaland two months ago to work in the company owned by relatives.
Raghavendra, from Nuzvid was employed by the same company since two years, The duo was on their way to Vijayawada when they were abducted.
Sources also confirmed that the duo were freed by the abductors and have been moved to a safe place in Nagaland. However, AP home minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said that there is no confirmed information on the release of two Andhra engineers.
