Six political murder cases registered by CBI in 3 yrs: Centre
New Delhi: Six cases related to political murders have been registered by CBI in the last three years, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
Minister of State for Personnel and Training Jitendra Singh said government does not order CBI inquiry into the murder of any political leader including from Kerala unilaterally.
"CBI takes up important and complicated cases for investigation only on the consent of concerned state governments or when it is so entrusted by the central government after obtaining the consent of state government concerned and otherwise when directed by Supreme Court of India and High Courts," Singh said.
As per section two of the DSPE Act, 1946, CBI can suo-motu take up investigation of offences notified in section three only in the Union Territories.
The data showed that during last three years, CBI has registered cases related to murders of politicians including Madan Tamang of Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League, Purnea MLA Raj Kishore Keshari in Bihar Veeran, President of Puratchi Bharatham Revolutionary India in Chennai, Ambika Prasad volunteer of Congress in Madhya Pradesh, CPI-ML leader Gangaram Koul in Tinsukia and former MLA Sarvesh Singh in Azamgarh.
