Property worth Rs 13 lakh gutted in fire at Monda market in Hyderabad

'store had housekeeping goods like acid, phenyl, paper plates and other disposable goods'

Hyderabad: Property worth Rs 13 lakh was destroyed in a fire at Secunderabad Traders store at Monda Market on Tuesday morning. The fire, a result of a short circuit, gutted the shop. It took more than four fire tenders and one snorkel about three hours to put off the fire. No casualties were reported.

The store, which is located on the ground floor of a three-storey building, caught fire at about 2.45 am. The residents around the area panicked and called the fire control room and five vehicles were rushed from the Secunderabad Fire Station. “The store had housekeeping goods like acid, phenyl, paper plates and other disposable goods. A pan masala shop nearby had more inflammable goods like cigarettes and lighters which led to the fire becoming intense.

The store owner did not have insurance for his property,” said G. Venkateshwar, Station House Officer, Secunderabad Fire Station.
