Mumbai: Sridevi who made a successful comeback with English Vinglish has just signed her next Hindi film — a home production, with husband Boney Kapoor.
The filmmaker has roped her in to play the lead role in a story that deals with the complicated relationship of a stepmother and her daughter.
The actress is currently winding up her Tamil film starring Vijay and Kannada superstar Sudeep, and will be given a detailed narration once she is back in Mumbai.
According to sources, the script has bits of her real life experiences woven into it.
Says a source, “Sridevi is the only actress of her generation who has been successful in making a comeback in the true sense. Despite being away for 15 years, the success of English Vinglish explains that the audience still wants to see her on the big screen. After that film she has received many offers, but Sri didn’t take up any. Boney’s film has the potential to get the best out of her.”
The film is slated to go on the floors in January 2015. In the meantime the production house is scouting for a young actress to play her daughter in the film.
