Bypoll to One MLC seat announced by Election Commission
Hyderabad: Election Commission of India has announced conduct of byelection to the lone vacant MLC seat from Andhra Pradesh caused by the resignation of Kolagatla Veera Bhadra Swamy.
The bypoll will be conducted on August 21 and nomination process would commence on August 4. The reminder period of the vacant MLC seat is up to March 29, 2019. Mr Veera Bhadra Swamy, who got elected in 2013 elections, have contested and lost as MLA candidate on behalf of the YSR Congress from Vizianagaram segment in the recent general elections. He resigned from his MLC seat also following defeat in the Assembly polls.
However, it is a foregone conclusion that the Telugu Desam which is commanding majority in the AP Assembly will bag the seat uncontested.
Municipal administration minister P. Narayana will be the TD candidate as he neither belongs to Assembly or Legislative Council as of now.
He was choosen as Minister by Mr Chandrababu naidu and he need to get elected to either house within six months from the date of becoming
Minister.
