Hyderabad: Despite the Andhra Pradesh government’s efforts to stall land registrations in the proposed capital region, there is a steep increase in the number of land transactions in Guntur and Vijayawada.
West Godavari district that includes Eluru has also registered hike in registrations. The sub-registrar offices at Mangalagiri, Guntur, Pedakakani areas of Guntur, Nuzividu, Gannavaram, Kankipadu, Vuyyuru, Gunadala, Ibrahimpatnam and Nunna registered the highest growth in registrations.
Some places saw a two-fold jump in registrations this year.
Sources said that most of the registration is in the benami names. A joint IG rank official of stamps and registration department said, “The three districts Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari recorded positive growth of 20 per cent altogether in registration of sale documents. All other districts registered negative growth.”
