CM Chandrababu Naidu promises IT boost for Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: “At least one entrepreneur and one IT-literate person from each household in the state.” This is what Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu proposed in his blueprint on IT and electronics released by him on Monday.
AP government has decided to allot Rs 1,785 crore to IT and electronic sector in three to five years. The state government aims to attract investments up to Rs 50,000 crore by 2020. IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said that the government has decided to attract Rs 12,000 crore in IT sector and Rs 30,000 crore in the electronic sector. The state government aims to create five lakh jobs for youth by 2020.
The blueprint for IT, electronics and e–governance has been developed with a vision “to develop AP as an innovative society of global repute, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life of its citizens through high quality education and health care, increased productivity in agriculture and above all by providing good governance.”
Mr Raghunath Reddy said that the state of Andhra Pradesh has been envisioned as the
“Sunrise State” owing to the great opportunities it can offer in the IT, electronics and allied industries.
The state government has identified three missions for electronics and IT — innovation, capacity-building and e–governance. Experts in these fields will be appointed as advisors.
IT minister said that the government aims to set up 20 electronic manufacturing clusters (EMCs) in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Vijayawada, Kakinada, and Guntur and 200 industries across the state.
A mega electronic hub at Visakhapatnam, and a hardware hub at Kakinada will be set up. Mega electronics events will be conducted at Vijayawada, Kakinada and Visakhapatnam and electronic bazaars will be set up at Vijayawada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam.
Single window system will be set up for the permissions for electronic and IT industries. The government has decided to update the current course curriculum in the technical institutions to match the industry needs.
Mr Naidu said that a committee is to be formed in concurrence with technical education department to study the global requirements of the industry and recommended the necessary changes in the course curriculum.
