New York: Maria, the daughter of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has left her apartment in the Netherlands after intense criticism following the shooting down of MH17 last week.
Immediately after the plane was brought down,there was calls to deport Maria, 29. who stays with her friend in the Netherlands, to be deported back to Russia.
The Russian president’s 29-year-old daughter had been living with her boyfriend Jorrit Faasen on the outskirts of Amsterdam, Daily Mirror reported.
Mr Putin is blamed for the tragedy that struck MH17.
“She moved in last year and it was all kept quiet for a while,” said a neighbour. “But once it became known who she was, there was certainly some disquiet. And now this has happened. She is obviously not responsible for her father’s actions, but we don’t want — demonstrations around here.”
Her presence in the wealthy suburban village of Voorschoten sparked tremendous outrage among grieving locals.
Meanwhile, AFP reported from Grabovo that heavy shelling around the crash site of MH17 forced Dutch and Australian police to scrap a planned trip on Sunday.
Elsewhere, 13 people including two children were killed during clashes in insurgent-held east Ukraine.
