Araku MP Geetha may ditch YSRC, join Telugu Desam
Visakhapatnam: In another blow to YSRC in the district after a senior politician Dadi Veeerabhadhra Rao left the party, Araku MP Kottapalli Geetha is likely to quit the party.
These reports gained credence after Ms Geetha met panchayat raj minister Ch. Ayyana Patrudu on Sunday.
It is reliably learnt that the MP will meet Telugu Desam president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during his two-day visit to the district on Wednesday and Thursday to attract ‘disciplinary action’ from the YSRC leadership, which may help her to join the TD circumventing Anti-Defection law.
Ms Geetha is said to be unhappy for sometime over the party functioning and the leadership.
Though she never openly expressed dissidence, she used to complain in private about the alleged apathy being shown by the local cadre towards her.
Incidentally, party representatives from local bodies like ZPTCs and MPTCs of Vizag Agency are believed to have decided to boycott her programmes.
Mr Ayyana Patrudu told this newspaper that their meeting was only about the development works related to certain panchayats coming under Araku Parliament constituency.
He denied that there was any discussion about Ms Geetha joining the TD.
However, he said there are no objections if she wants to do so. “We don’t have any objections if she wants to join us. The meeting was about funds for the development in Agency and I assured my help irrespective of party affiliation,” he said.
