Andhra Pradesh, Telangana should settle issues amicably: Venkaiah Naidu
Hyderabad: Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said both the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state governments should sit together and sort out issues in the larger interests of the development.
Responding to queries from mediapersons on the row over fee reimbursement and nativity between the AP and TS governments, Mr Naidu, the urban development and parliamentary affairs minister, said “As a Telugu man myself and also as a Union minister, I suggest that both the governments sit together and sort out the issues amicably. The governments of two states should focus on development,” he said.
Stating that students have made their preferences clear, both the governments should ensure that the students’ interests are protected and they do not end up with any loss.
“Both AP and TS governments should strive to fulfil promises made by them to the people,” Mr Naidu said.
He also said that the Central government would not extend any financial assistance to AP or TS to help them in their farm loan waiver scheme.
On the guidelines to allocate employees to both states, Mr Naidu again reiterated that both the governments should sort out the issue amicably. “There is a grievance redressal mechanism also. Employees who are not happy with the allocation can register their objections,” he said.
Asked about the row over tennis star Sania Mirza being named as brand ambassador of Telangana state, Mr Naidu said she is a great tennis player. “Nobody has questioned it, including my colleagues. It is for them to decide who should be brand ambassador and who should be given priority. There are some local comments but I don’t want to comment.”
